IGNITION
BEST OVERALL AWARD IN EXCELENCE IN DESIGN COMPETITION
Plano,
TX (March 1, 2005) - Industrial design
firm Ignition, Inc., was a recent recipient of the Best Overall
Award for Testing & Measurement Equipment in the Excellence
in Design competition. The winning entry is the SRX-1000 Surface
Reader, produced for the Authentix Corporation.
The
SRX-1000 Surface Reader is a self-contained, hand held surface spectrometer
designed to accurately and reliably verify authenticity of products
coded with Authentix' covert and overt security markers. The SRX-1000
fits in the palm of your hand and is designed to non-destructively
detect the presence of Authentix' proprietary markers on products,
including high brand value items such as beauty products, and their
packaging at the point of sale or in the distribution channel.
Much
attention was given to the design of the SRX-1000 to protect the proprietary
nature of the equipment and the embedded security features it will
detect. The modular design supports application-specific configurability
to create a unique marker and detector combination for each application.
The design is ergonomic and ideal for repeated daily use as an inspection
tool, in a wide variety of applications. All user interfaces were designed
to accommodate reliable, intuitive and simple operations, e.g. left
or right single hand operation and audio, as well as visual instrument
response.
In
creating this Surface Reader, an iconic design has been achieved. This
small, lightweight, hand held unit has a comfortable, curved, ergonomic
shape. It was optimally designed for the way field inspectors would
wish to use it. Its capabilities allow them to unequivocally authenticate
products and their packaging, thus protecting brand integrity. This
device is the perfect weapon against fraud. The ability for instant
field authentication assures the consumer that they are receiving what
they paid for, and it protects the business investment, branding and
R&D of the manufacturer and distributor.
