Ignition’s President Doug Laube founded the company under the name Douglas Laube Industrial Design in 1985 in historic downtown Plano, Texas.

Doug was determined to make great products for his clients by creating a company environment optimized for results. Doug realized that execution and communication were as important as vision, and he quickly added Engineering and Prototyping as core disciplines. In the early years, Doug’s main goal was to strike a delicate balance. He had to nurture these three teams in order to develop their individual core values, and foster a familiarity and respect among the teams so they could come together to solve complex product development problems and advance the state of the art.

By 1994 Doug knew the time had come to change the firm’s name to reflect a company that, while still a reflection of the founder’s principles, was much more than a single person operation. IGNITION captured the energy of the company and its people, as well as Doug’s passion for pushing clients beyond their own expectations and their competition.

By 1998 Ignition had outgrown four separate facilities in downtown Plano, and the move was made to a new world-class facility in the middle of the North Texas Technology Corridor.

In 2005, Ignition added two new Asia offices, one in Taiwan and one in Hong Kong. Our Asian presence allows us to better optimize international product development processes, and it gives us unique access to global manufacturing and distribution channels.

We still ignite passion in our employees and our clients after 20 years. As we look to our next 20 years, we will continue to create great products with the same care for our clients and commitment to their success.
